Refractive Error Types

Refractive Surgery (Refractive Error Types)

Refractive Myopia

Nearsightedness: is a vision defect in which distance objects appear blurry because the image that enters the eye is focused in front of the retina rather than on it.

Hyperopia Refractive Errors

Refractive Hyperopia is farsightedness. It is a vision condition in which distance objects appear clearer than near objects due to the eye being too short, thus causing the image entering the eye not to be clearly focused on the retina.

Astigmatism Refractive Errors

Astigmatism is a vision condition caused by the cornea of front surface of the eye to be shaped more oval (or oblong) like an egg or football rather than spherical (or round). This causes light rays to focus in two separate points on the retina rather than one causing a distorted and blurry image at both distance and near.

Presbyopia Refractive Surgery Correction

Refractive Presbyopia is a vision condition caused by the aging process in which the natural lens inside the eye gradually losing its flexibility and results in blurry vision for reading and near work.

Refractive errors are experienced by an estimated 800 million to 2.3 billion people worldwide.

  • "I have to admit I was skeptical of their low price, but everything went exactly as the Care Manager stated. It was nice having a pre-qualified referral so I didn't have to weed through the many physicians out there that do LASIK eye surgery." -- Tracy B, Souderton, PA
